The highest paid government employees mostly features people working for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, the largest retirement system in the state serving over 1.8 million people. Top politicians in the state do not make close to what the highest paid employee receives. For example, Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton both make $153,750 annually.
